“I am deeply saddened by the loss of my grandfather Barron Hilton. He was a legend, a visionary, brilliant, handsome, kind and lived a life full of accomplishment and adventure. Ever since I was a little girl, I have looked up to him as a businessman. I feel so grateful to have had such an incredible mentor. I always wanted to make him proud.”
Paris remembered her final conversation with her beloved grandfather in which she said, “how much of an impact he had on my life.”

Although Barron was in line to be a successor to his father hotel franchise, he decided to try out some of his ideas and co-founded, McDonald Oil Company and Air Finance. In 1951, he joined ‘Hilton’ as the vice president and was responsible for the company’s operations. In 1959, he bought the Los Angeles Chargers and took over as the president of the AFL in 1965. During his time, he presented the idea for the merge between AFL and National Football League which laid the foundation for the Super Bowl.
However, in 1966, Barron moved his focus from Football after his father asked him to take the lead for the Hilton Hotels Corporation. He sold his shares in the team for 10 million dollars, which he had bought for a mere $25,000.
Upon his control, he managed to convince the board to invest in the booming gambling business in Las Vegas. He opened two casinos, Flamingo Hilton and Las Vegas Hilton. After many expansion and competition, Hilton rooms grew from 2277 and 6703 by ’90s. By 2000, Hilton had already acquired Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, DoubleTree, and Homewood Suites and other. He acquired Hilton International and merged with booming gaming business, Harrah’s and Caesars Entertainment.
